    [art post] Zoro

OTL Damn my compulsive nature, but it took me many hours of trawling to find this dude.

    Acceptible Zoro? Y/N?

Should I do some more? Who next?

My back is killing me again because I sat wrong last night. But I managed to get all the Christmas presents I was making today done, and now I'm going to go see Boondock Saints 2 with Jeanne in a very little while. I'll try to survive the back pain.

Also, I wish someone had warned me that Confessions of a Shopaholic would trip my embarrassment squick like whoa. Not even the presence of my imaginary boyfriend Hugh Dancy made that less painful.

GUYS. YOU GUYS. Judd Winick pens 'Batman: Under the Hood' animated film script.

Comics2Film at Mania.com has confirm that the next DC Universe animated feature film after 'Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths' will be 'Batman: Under the Hood'.

The movie will be based on the recent storyline featured in Batman #635-641. We've also learned that Judd Winick, who wrote the comic series, is also writing the script for the film.

The comics storyline features the return of the mysterious Batman villain, The Red Hood, which was originally the identity adopted by the Joker before he fell into a vat of chemicals and was transformed into the clown prince of crime. This new Red Hood rises up as an anti-hero in Gotham City, waging a violent war against the likes of the Joker and the Black Mask.

The villain's campaign puts him at odds with Batman as well as various allies including Nightwing, Green Arrow, Zatanna and others. While most readers of C2F likely already know the character that is eventually revealed to be under the Red Hood, we'll avoid spoiling it for anyone who isn't current on their bat-books.

Watch for 'Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths' to arrive in February. Expect 'Batman: Under the Hood' to drop in the summer.

YOU GUYS I THINK I JUST PEED A LITTLE BIT.

    HORROR COMICS
Here are some fun horror comics I've read in recent memory!

I searched out the first one after reading today's Chainsaw Suit.

These are japanese comics, so those of you who are unused to this format remember to read right to left.

First comic: The Enigma of the Amigara Fault

Summary: An earthquake has exposed strange holes in the side of a mountain, shaped like people. People flock from all over to see them, and begin entering them, saying that particular holes were 'made for them'. They then disappear.

Warnings: Some body horror. No blood or guts, but you see a body look a lot like gumby gone wrong very briefly.

Found this one by going 'that can't really be right' at a tvtropes entry.

Second comic: School Mermaid (first page here. Otherwise: Follow the chapters (first is at the bottom) and choose the 'read this' link next.

Summary: It is said that if you recite the magic words, mermaids will appear for you in the school pool. If you kill one and eat its flesh, the boy you like will like you back. There are, however, some caveats and these are not normal mermaids...

    Warnings: None, really. No gore.

    Tis the season
Oh man, livejournal, did I tell you about the time a couple of weeks ago when Erinna and I were looking at the local craigslist, and discovered that the bland, slightly dirty suburban parking lot of the supermarket down the street from me is a hook-up site for dudes who want to have anonymous car-sex after the late-night shopping's done? Williamstown: it's the gift that keeps on giving.

    Predictability
The insides of my ears are itchy. If I get an outer ear infection as a goodbye present from 2009 I am going on a killing spree I swear.

Because my brain is a predictable brain, today it spent some time considering that, hey, Hummel is a German last name, so it would be totally logical and awesome to have an AU where Kurt is a Weimar cabaret performer (FUN FACT I JUST LEARNED: if you type 'weimar cabaret' into google, one of the images at the top of the search results is of Adam Lambert and Brad Bell making out, righto then!). And clearly Quinn's parents would be good little National Socialists, which explains why she'd be reluctant to tell anyone that the father of her child is Noah Puckerman. And mostly I just like the idea of Kurt... waitwaitwait, google is now informing me that Chris went to an Upright Cabaret show? As in, the Upright Cabaret that Adam Lambert used to perform in? Universe, seriously, just give me a picture of the two of them together already, the teasing is getting tiresome.

This evening I met up with Grace after she finished work, and then we ran into Jen and Minna and Steve by chance, and sat around in the Queen Street Mall talking about nerd things for hours. It was awesome.

Happiest of days to Kate, [info]musiquenoir! I miss hanging out with you.

I found out yesterday my cousin Beth is pregnant! Which is exciting for me, and I'm so, so happy for her and her husband. So I go to tell my dad and he says, "Oh, I know, your mom told me a week ago."

Neither parent had told me. My parents are fired.

    me: "Mom?"
    Mom: "Yes?"
    me: "I will defeat you."
Mom: "Not as long as I have... CAFFEINE!" *coffee slurp*
me: "Wait. You're drinking coffee less than an hour before we go out for coffee?"
    Mom: "Starbucks sells other things!"
me: "Yeah, but you're gonna get coffee anyway, aren't you"
    Mom: "...I love coffee."

In other news, I've noticed she's started doing the old people thing of mixed up titles. Is very insistent we go see the Princess Frog.

Me and my sis are gonna be hanging out in Toronto tonight, and I'm so excited! We'll be checking out the Festival of Lights and doing dinner at Kensington Market (or this awesome Korean restaurant) and then doing Christmas shopping, and some general hanging out maybe! I'm so looking forward to doing this - I haven't done anything with my sister in forever. It's gonna be so nice!

And then either tomorrow night or Wednesday, I'll probably be seeing Avatar with my friend Steve and possibly someone else, and then after that's Christmas! Yay! Family! Presents! Food! And then after that, Boxing Day (and hopefully an acquired 1TB external hard drive, thank you Boxing Day sales) and more family and Christmas and presents! Fwee!

This week is shaping up to be pretty damn awesome, despite work. But even work's not so bad, so meh! :)

"I'm pretty dedicated to my Mellencamp collection."
Rage Against the Machine take Christmas No.1 slot with "Killing in the Name", because half a million people banded together and decided that Simon Cowell wasn't going to get the number one yet again with an X-factor album. Now, okay, I am someone who owns two copies of Adam Lambert's album, so I'm hardly in a position to decry Simon Cowell's reality tv musical output, but I still think this is pretty neat. Cowell says the whole thing is "very Scrooge", but it sound to me more like the Whos down in Whoville, really.

I go up to Brisbane for Christmas this evening. Yay! This has been an earfucker of a year, and I don't just mean that I lost part of my hearing. It's been a bitch of a thing and I can think of nothing I want more than to curl up on the couch with my elderly cat and watch cable television and hang out with my family. Plus, travel! I love airports. I know I'm a freak. Like Kirk says to Spock in that deleted scene from NuTrek, "for some of us, the journey is home." That's me, that. That's me.

Because I'll be away until the 31st, I've stuck a whole heap of new stuff up at the Etsy store to tide people over. Everything will be mailed out as soon as I get back. If I'd known that I'd end up with this many items, I would have made categories for earrings and necklaces. I might do that when I get back, though for me half the fun of shopping at Etsy is browsing.

In the "Mary is a giant goober" files: I'm currently in the process of interviewing Jessicka Addams for the next issue of Kylie's amazing riot grrrl zine. This has involved me flailing around and making gulpy noises a lot, because Jessicka. "Clear Hearts Gray Flowers" by Jack Off Jill is one of my five favourite albums in the history of the universe. It's just amazing, and she's just amazing, and somehow I'm meant to be coherent despite this amazingness.

After four years of doing this stuff, you'd think I'd be a little better at interviewing entertainers I adore, and yet. Once a goober, always a goober. djskljkldsjlkdasJESSICKA.

Right, off to post the weekend's Etsy orders and pack. Possibly I'll put some pants on at some point, also, though I wouldn't count on it.

    EDIT to my Holiday Wishlist
Link is here. I had to change one item because it doesn't exist anymore. :( The tree in LA I wanted pics of has been taken down, so it's pointless to have that as an item on my wishlist.

I've skimmed around for wishlists but it looked like a lot of people on my flist hadn't posted one, so if you have one, please link me here so I can try and fulfill some wishes. ♥

Right. Last week sucked, but it was my own damn fault. We won't be doing that again. Anyway. Things have been Fixed and I am relatively sane again, so that's nice. I am, however, saddened that for some reason, New York gets slammed by snow and Toronto is missed completely. I'm not asking for a storm, but a couple of centimetres would be nice just for the whole "white Christmas" affect and hell, this is Canada, after all. Let's get on it, Mother Nature.

Also, fuck, it's Christmas in like six days and I'm not done shopping yet. *sigh* I am not normally this disorganized, but thankfully I don't have much left to get and it shouldn't be difficult providing I can force myself to leave my apartment.

In closing, I give you one of my favourite contemporary Christmas songs. I may not be religious, but I love the unique perspective and the quiet grace of it:

Having a wonderful time at my friend's Christmas gathering/sleepover/etc... thingy. Tomorrow is tree decoration and proposed movie watching so that should be nice, after about three hours of travel back from friend's house. Hoowee. I still don't know what I'm doing for New Years. Happiest of days to Miss Megolas, [info]birdsflying! Hope you had a great day.

I did. I spent all day talking about the Keurig coffee machine. I love those things. I really wish I could afford one, but sadly, at this point I really can't. But someday, it will be mine, oh yes. *cackles* They're such pretty little machines.

Plus, I stayed up till one thirty this morning to write out cards for everyone I work with, but they were well received, so that made up for it.

    UGH HATERS
    I know, I know.

    Each to his/her/their own.

But I still feel filled with inexplicable, incandescent rage when I see people viciously hating on things I love dearly.

Being all, "Oh, I don't like that," is one thing, but being all "GTFO" or "DIAF" or similar letters makes me rageful. And sadface at the same time.

My mantra: ALL THE MORE FOR ME THEN. Just take a deep breath and repeat...
